(1) The Local Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, direct that any rules made under the British Burma Municipal Act, 1874, VII of 18 and in force in any local area being, or comprised in, a municipality constituted under this Act at the time the municipal committee for that municipality comes into existence under section 13, shall, so far as they are consistent with this Act and within the powers conferred thereby, be deemed to have been made under this Act, and shall continue in force until repealed by new rules so made.
