Acceptable use and AI

What you may not do with Advocate OS, and what its AI does and does not do.

Some of the operator’s details are not set yet and are shown in [brackets]. The platform admin sets them in Settings › Legal.

01Do not

  • Break the law, or use the service to harass, defame or deceive anyone.
  • Try to reach another firm's data, test the security of the service without our written permission, or get around its limits.
  • Copy, scrape or resell the service, its library or its court data in bulk, or run automated traffic against it or, through it, against court portals.
  • Upload malware, or material you have no right to hold.
  • Use the service to advertise yourself, solicit clients or send messages to people who have not agreed to receive them.
  • Present AI output to a court, a client or anyone else as checked when you have not checked it.

02How the AI works here

AI reads, summarises and drafts; code handles rules such as deadlines, court fees, formal parts and numbering. AI proposes and a person confirms: nothing reaches a court, an invoice or a client without approval (a firm may switch on routine date alerts to clients).

Every statement the assistant makes should cite a page or a paragraph, and code checks quotations against the source. Anything that could not be checked is marked unverified. AI can still be wrong: check before you rely on it.

  • AI features use Google's Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com), called only from our server through one gateway.
  • On the paid Gemini API, Google does not use prompts or answers to improve its products. It logs them for a limited time only to detect abuse.
  • Google may process and cache the data in any country where it has facilities. There is no India-only region on this API.
  • When web search is switched on for a question, Google keeps that question and its answer for 30 days.
  • On our side, each AI call leaves a ledger line (task, cost and a fingerprint of the input), not the papers. Answers are kept where the firm saves them, such as a draft or a summary, and some for up to 24 hours in a cache so the same question is not paid for twice.
  • A client can say no: switch off "AI may read this client's papers" on the client's page, or the client can do it in the portal. AI then never reads that client's matters.
