51. The Governor General in Council m;sy suspend, Governor Powers of annul or modify any sentence passed by an Iridian Generalin Marine Court on a commanding officer under this Act, ::':; ,$ or substitute a punishment inferior in degree for the ,e,te,,,e,. punishment involved in any such sentence, or remit the whole or any portion of the punishment involved in any such sentence, or remit the whole or any portion of any punishment into which the punishment involve'd in any such sentence has been commuted; and any sentence so modified shall, subject to the provision's of this Act, be valid, and shall be carried into execution as if it liacl been originadly passed with such modification by the Court or officer, but so that the punishment involvect ill any- selitcnce be not inwcased by any such modification.
