Section 37. _

37. (1) The following punishments may be inflicted under this Act :- (a) death; (ti) penal servitude ; (c) dismissal with disgrace from the Indian Marine Service ; (d) imprisonrn en tD ; (e) dismissal from the Indian Marine Service ; (f) loss of seniority as an officer for a specified time or otherwise ; `(9)` dismissal from the vessel to which the offender belongs ; (h) severe reprimand, or reprimand ; `(i)` disrating a warrant-officer .or petty officer or any other person below that rank ; ( j ) forfeiture B I 7 ( j ) forfeiture I 7 Schedule of punishments. (j) for£ eiture of pay, bounty, salvrtge, prize-money and allowances earned by, and of all annuities, pensions, gratuities, medals and docorations granted to, the offender, or of anyoue or more of the above particulars ; also, in the case of desertion, of all clothes and effects left by the deserter on board the vessel to which he belongs. (2) Each of the above punishments shall be deemed to be ipferiqr in degree, to every punishment preceding it in the above scale.
