(I) The University shall constitute for the Pension or provident benefit of its officers, teachers, clerical staff and ser- fa,ld. vants a pension or provident fund in such manner and subject to such conditions as may be prescribed by the Statutes. or provident (2) Where such a pension or provident fund has been so constituted, Ihe Governor General in Council may, notwithstanding anything contained in the Provident Funds Act, 189'7, by notification in the Gazette of India, declare that the provisions of the said Act shall apply to such fund as if it mere a Government Provident Fund.
