Section 20. The Court

20. The Court.— (1) The constitution of the Court and the term of office of its members shall be prescribed by the Statutes. (2) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Court shall have the following powers and functions, namely: — (a) to review, from time to time, the broad policies and programmes of the University and to suggest measures for the improvement and development of the University; (b) to consider and pass resolutions on the annual report and the annual accounts of the University and the audit report on such accounts; (c) to advise the Visitor in respect of any matter which may be referred to it for advice; and (d) to perform such other functions as may be prescribed by the Statutes. 20. (1) There shall be Selection Committees for making recommendations to the Executive Council for appointment to the posts of Professor, Reader, Lecturer, Registrar, Finance Officer, Librarian and Principals of Colleges and Institutions maintained by the University. (2) The Selection Committee for appointment to the posts specified in column 1 of the Table below shall consist of the Vice - Chancellor, Pro - Vice - Chancellor, a nominee of the Visitor and the persons specified in the corresponding entry in column 2 of the said Table: TABLE |||1||2| |---|---|---|---|---| |Professor|||(i)<br>(ii)|The Head of the Department concerned if he is a Professor.<br>One Professor to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor.| ||||(iii)|Three persons not in the service of the University,<br>nominated by the Executive Council, out of a panel names| |||||recommended by the Academic Council for their special| |||||knowledge of, or interest in, the subject with which the| |||||Professor will be concerned.| |Reader/Lecturer|||(i)<br>(ii)|The Head of the Department concerned.<br>One Professor to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor.| ||||(iii)|Two persons not in the service of the University,<br>nominated by the Executive Council, out of a panel of| |||||names recommended by the Academic Council for their| |||||special knowledge of, or interest in, the subject with which| |||||the Reader or a Lecturer will be concerned.| |Registrar, Finance Officer|||(i)|Two members of the Executive Council nominated by it;| ||||(ii)|and<br>One person not in the service of the University, nominated| |Librarian|||(i)|by the Executive Council.<br>Two persons not in the service of the University, who have| |||||special knowledge of the subject of the Library| |||||Science/Library Administration to be nominated by the| ||||(ii)|Executive Council.<br>One person not in the service of the University, nominated| |Principal|of College or Institution|||by the Executive Council.<br>Three persons not in the service of the University of whom| |maintained by the University||||two shall be nominated by the Executive Council and one<br>by the Academic Council for their special knowledge of,<br>or interest in, a subject in which instruction is being<br>provided by the College or Institution.| |NOTE:|1.|Where the appointment is being made for an inter-disciplinary project, the head of the||| |||project shall be deemed to be the Head of the Department concerned.|||
