Section 17 is excepted, and the term recognized agent is defined as follows, viz., a permanent servant, partner, relation, or friend, whom the Court may admit as a fit person to represent a party, and especially persons holding powers-of-attorney from absent parties, persons carrying on business on behalf of bankers and traders, managing agents of landholders, nearest male relations of women, and persons ex officio authorized to act for Government, or for any Prince or Chief.
