Any officer in charge of a Police-station who, on application in writing made by a Salt-revenue officer to attend for any of the purposes specified in section eighteen, refuses or fails within a reasonable time so to attend or to depute a subordinate officer, not inferior in rank to a head constable, so to attend, shall for every such offence be punished with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees.
