In all other respects the provisions of this Act shall have effect within such limits or distance: Provided that whenever any arrest or search under this Act is to be made within the limits of any cantonment, the Collector or other officer authorized to make such arrest or search shall, whenever it may be practicable, give previous notice to the Commanding Officer, and in all other cases shall report the arrest or search to such Commanding Officer with as little delay as possible.
