Section 1. Short title, extent and commencement

1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called[3] [the Immoral Traffic (Prevention)] Act, 1956. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) This section shall come into force at once; and the remaining provisions of this Act shall come into force on such date[4] as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. 1.
