6. Competent authority. —The Inland Waterways Authority of India, constituted under section 3 of the Inland Waterways Authority of India Act, 1985 (82 of 1985) shall be the competent authority for the purpose of exercising or discharging the powers, authority or duties conferred, by or under this Act.
