WHEREAS it is expedient to increase the rate of Duty on Salt imported into the North-Western Provinces of the Presidency of Bengal ; Preamble. It is enacted as follows :- I.[So much of Section ] I1[of Act ][XIV ][of 1843 ] [(for regulating the levy ] `of` Customs Duties, and the manufacture of Salt in the Law r - pealed. Port/&- PVestern Provinces of ths Presidency of Bengal) as pescribes the levy of a Duty of two Rupees per maund on the Import of Salt into the said Provinces, and pf a further Duty 01 one Rupee per lnaund on the transmission thereof to the Eastward of Allahabad, is hereby repealed. ?I* It shall be lawful for the Governor-General in Council to order the Customs Dnty on Salt[levy, on and after the 24th day of Deccmber 1859, of ] [n ] imported'qtq the NorthCustoms Duty not exceedin3 three ltupees per m n ~ ~ n d 011 Western Provinces.
