The Air Force Act, 1950 · XVI — TRANSITORY PROVISIONS

Section 1. The Indian Air Force Act, 1932, is in large part modelled on the Indian Army Act, 1911, and departs

In force · As amended up to 2026-08

1. The Indian Air Force Act, 1932, is in large part modelled on the Indian Army Act, 1911, and departs from the latter Act principally in two Chapters, viz., those on "Offences" and "Punishments". With the revision of the Indian Army Act a new Air Force Act has become inevitable and after an examination of the possibility of combining the two Acts into one it was decided that this course was not feasible but the more practicable and convenient course was to have two separate Acts but identical in their provisions with all necessary variations and adaptations of the Army Act required by the Air Force. The salient points of revision of these Acts have been set out in the Statement of Objects and Reasons to the Army Bill, 1949. 1. The Explanation omitted by Act 13 of 1975, s. 2 (w.e.f. 25-1-1975). (i) forfeiture of service for the purpose of increased pay, pension or any other prescribed purpose; (j) severe reprimand or reprimand, in the case of officers, warrant officers and non-commissioned officers; (k) forfeiture of pay and allowances for a period not exceeding three months for an offence committed on active service; (l) forfeiture, in the case of a person sentenced to cashiering or dismissal from the service of all arrears of pay and allowances and other public money due to him at the time of such cashiering or dismissal; (m) stoppage of pay and allowances until any proved loss or damage occasioned by the offence of which he is convicted is made good.
